Central High/Tri-C Committees

ABOUT OUR SCHOOL COMMITTEES

Central High/Tri-C CDS believes in and promotes collaboration in school decision-making. Committees for 2023-2024 include: 

  • The WASC Leadership Council, which meets to review information and progress about the school's instructional program and general operations. 

  •  ​​​​The Staff Selection Committee meets as needed to interview potential candidates for teaching and administrative positions.

  • The Positive Behavior Support Committee meets to discuss and review the school’s discipline policy and update the school's Safety Plan/procedures. Additionally, the Positive Behavior Support Committee will help develop and promote positive, inclusive communities and restorative practices across all campuses. 

  • The Local School Leadership Council is active in coordinating State Standards-based training sessions, Interim and Smarter Balanced assessments, providing suggestions for school events and support, in addition to making calendar recommendations.

  • The Senior Activities and Graduation Committee involves 12th grade students and school staff in planning and holding a variety of events that enhance the senior year experience. 

  • Central High and Tri-C School Site Councils (SSC), two committees elected by faculty, staff, parents, and students, meet a minimum of six times per school year to discuss categorical budgets, instructional requests, and various programs pertaining to the School Plan for Student Achievement (SPSA).

 WHAT IS ACS WASC? 

The Accrediting Commission for Schools, Western Association of Schools and Colleges (ACS WASC) is a regional accreditation program that collaborates with the California Department of Education (CDE) to help schools identify and implement school improvement needs and support accountability. WASC’s accreditation philosophy centers upon three beliefs: (1) a school’s goal is successful student learning; (2) each school has a clear purpose and school-wide student goals; and (3) a school engages in external and internal evaluations as part of continued school improvement to support student learning. Accreditation is integral to a school’s perpetual cycle of assessment, planning, implementation, monitoring, and reassessment based upon student achievement. It fosters excellence by encouraging school improvement through a process of continuing evaluation and to recognize, by accreditation, schools that meet an acceptable level of quality in accordance with established criteria.

Why Accreditation?

• Assures a school community that the school’s purposes are appropriate and being accomplished through a viable education program, i.e., the school is a trustworthy institution for student learning

• Validates the integrity of the school’s program and transcripts

• Facilitates transfer of credits to other English speaking schools — critical for college/university acceptance worldwide

• Fosters the ongoing improvement of the school’s programs and operations to support student learning.

Central High/Tri-C will conduct an accreditation Mid-Term Report during the 2024-2025 school year.
